Energy Community Planning Tool

The Energy Community Planning Tool in the COMMUNITAS project is designed to support citizens and local groups in planning and developing energy communities. The tool enables users to explore different energy system configurations at community level, supporting informed decision-making in the early stages of development.

By simulating alternative scenarios that combine renewable energy sources, energy storage solutions and eMobility infrastructure, the tool evaluates options based on environmental and economic criteria. An optimisation algorithm then proposes suitable configurations that balance sustainability objectives with cost-effectiveness and technical feasibility.

As part of the Social Acceptance Campaign, the Energy Community Planning Tool demonstrates how accessible planning solutions can empower communities to take an active role in the energy transition. By making complex planning processes more transparent and understandable, it helps build trust and acceptance around collective energy solutions.
