Netherlands – Buurtwarmte Groningen Energy Community

Buurtwarmte Groningen, based in Groningen, covers three districts with around 2,000 members. The community operates a natural gas heat network alongside a significant solar PV capacity. The community focuses on expanding renewable production, reducing energy consumption, and engaging residents with energy education. Supported by Dutch policies that foster EC involvement, Buurtwarmte Groningen aims to transition from advisory services to managing its heat network and electricity generation infrastructure.
