Denmark – Avedøre Energy Community
The Avedøre Energy Community in Hvidovre, south of Copenhagen, serves a community of 6,000 inhabitants. This pioneering Danish EC collaborates with local stakeholders and includes EV charging, PV installations, and plans for additional renewable energy projects. Despite regulatory challenges, Denmark’s recent laws define EC concepts and allow consumer access to ancillary service markets. COMMUNITAS supports Avedøre in addressing regulatory and technical challenges, aiming to accelerate its renewable infrastructure plans, including rooftop PVs and a wind farm.
